If

by P.R.Banks

If wishes held sway,
and the power of one,
was more than it is today,
I'd be there to see you.

If thoughts could only convey,
of themselves a fraction,
in some tangible way,
You'd never be alone.

If I was more than I am,
could finish what I had begun,
and had real courage,
I might be worthy.

But such is not to be,
I am less - not more,
than what you see,
and that pains...
